Summary

Tate Trammell is a Pre-Med Exercise Science B.S. student at Indiana University Bloomington with an interest in human movement and nutrition, along with neuroscience and brain trauma. He joined the Clinical Neurotrauma Laboratory to become more versed in brain injuries and overall brain activity and health, with a particular interest in how medical innovation and research can intersect to improve neurological outcomes. Through his involvement in the lab, Tate hopes to gain hands-on research experience alongside experienced faculty and researchers, furthering his interest in advancing patient care and long-term health outcomes.

Tate's current responsibilities in the lab include assisting with a Department of Defense study exploring the effects of repetitive head impacts on brain health and cognitive function, as well as an NIH-funded study examining the potential of omega-3 fatty acids to protect against subconcussive head impacts.

Outside of the lab, he is involved with Hoosier Sport, a community-based program at Indiana University that uses sport and physical activity research to support youth development in rural communities.

After graduation, Tate hopes to explore a career in orthopedic surgery.
