Summary

Yash Gajjar is a passionate undergraduate neuroscience student at Indiana University, driven by a commitment to hands-on learning and advocating for scientific advancement. As a research assistant in the lab, he plays an integral role in traumatic brain injury (TBI) studies, conducting data collection through fMRI operations, biomarker analysis from blood samples, and neurocognitive assessments. Yash collaborates closely with researchers to manage data entry and maintain seamless lab operations, while assisting with preliminary data analysis using MS Excel and MATLAB for ocular imaging.

Complementing his lab contributions, Yash's internship at Eli Lilly honed his analytical expertise in regulatory science for central nervous system (CNS)-active compounds. There, he analyzed agency feedback to identify patterns and expectations, built a comprehensive database for strategic planning, authored summary reports on key themes and best practices, and presented recommendations to cross-functional teams like the Drug Abuse Liability Development Advisory Committee (DALDAC) and Toxicology department. In his leadership role as Student Engagement Chair for Timmy Global Health, Yash coordinates year-round advocacy events—including Global Health Week—pursues novel initiatives and recruits students through involvement fairs and class visits, amplifying his advocacy for equitable access to science and health.

Through these interconnected experiences, Yash has cultivated a holistic perspective on neuroscience, blending research, industry application, and community outreach.
