Summary

Kirstin West is an undergraduate research assistant in Keisuke Kawata’s lab at Indiana University Bloomington. She is pursuing a degree in Neuroscience and is on the pre-medical track, aspiring to be a physician in the future. Kirstin’s work in the Clinical Neurotrauma Laboratory focuses on the Emerging Sexual Strangulation and Brain Health study. With this study, she is hoping that individuals will be able to understand how sexual behaviors that are becoming more prominent in college students are affecting female's neurological health in both an acute and longitudinal timeframe. Further, she hopes that this understanding will influence individuals to act safely when experimenting with these emerging sexual behaviors. Outside of her work in the lab, Kirstin serves on the governing board for her sorority as Vice President of New Member Experience and works as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
